Sunday, April 13, 2014 marks the 8th anniversary that my beloved youngest son Lcpl Stephen Joseph Perez USMC paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country in the War in Iraq. Not a single moment of the day has gone by that he is not in my mind and in my heart. I really miss his positive way of thinking and his ever present smile. I will never forget the lifetime memories we shared together especially the last night you and I spent together here in Eagle Pass (December 31, 2005) when I told you how proud I was about you and how I wish that there were more people like you in this world and you responded by saying “Aw Dad it’s just me El Stevie”. One of the many things that I admired about you is that in your 22 years here on Earth not once did I ever see you mad you smiled 24 hours a day yes even in your sleep. I know that all of our ancestors in heaven are all very proud and honored to have you amongst them. Please take good care of both of your grandmothers in heaven and please guide and protect your nephew Nikolas Antonio Perez as well as your niece Stephanie Jozlyn Perez. Your older Brother Kenny and yourself are my inspiration for me to keep battling forth no matter how many times people try to tear me apart or knock me down and just like you I will continue to battle to my very last breath on Earth. Mijo I love you with all of my heart for all eternity. Rest in Peace Forever you will always be my Hero! May the good Lord bless you and like I used to always tell you “I wish I could be just half as good a person as you were”, your proud father Conrado Perez, Jr.
