Sunday, August 24: This morning we went to church, and Dane joined the Youth Group. Diran and I went to help Dane but it was great that we got to see both boys in the youth together. Dane received a Bible from the Childrens’ Department as is the tradition in our church. I started crying as he left the pew!! I cannot relate the gratitude that I have that on this day, my son is walking, talking, and receiving a Bible – that he carried with BOTH hands. Glory to God as He has heard this mother’s cries and the fervent prayer of so many who have stood in the gap for us. “The fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16 Our pastor preached this morning out of Acts. He told of how a sermon can be preached and a sermon can be lived out. (I’m not doing his words justice, you can listen to the whole thing on our website, fbcbowie.org , in a few days once it is uploaded under worship – morning messages) I have felt that over the past 14 weeks that so many have lived out a sermon – praying fervently for Dane. Today, I saw the result of that prayer walking across our church. I am overwhelmed. Glory, Glory! Tomorrow is the first day of the last year of High School for our oldest son Pierce. Tonight, he and his lifelong friend, Cameron, painted his parking space at the school. I am excited and sad all at the same time. I can’t believe it is here. At the request of the boys, I made chicken and dumplings – a good “start the school year right” kind of meal. Dane announced to me that he was “bored”. That is the first time he has told me that since the accident. I was so happy he could tell me! So, we loaded up and went to watch them paint the parking spot. We returned home with Pierce, Dad, Cameron and then our other extended family kids, Karlyn and Chandler showed up. (funny how that happens everytime I fix chicken and dumpings). So we all ate and laughed. How I am determined not to miss of moment of really anything with my kids – so I am thankful for painted parking spots, a house full of kids, school supplies and laundry, overpriced “swag” socks, waterproof mascera and the immense joy that I have because the Lord is faithful. Glory to God…. Sunday’s coming…….
