Sunday, August 4 DISCOVERING A NEGLECTED FESTIVAL Nehemiah 8:13-18 They found in the Law … that the Israelites were to live in booths during the feast of the seventh month. Nehemiah 8:14, NIV The passage shows the people’s renewed interest in the Word of God. Though the people spent the greater part of the first day in praying and hearing, they were so strong that they could gather again the next day to hear Ezra expound the Word (v. 13). They found listening to God’s Word more delightful and gainful than any worldly pleasure or profit whatsoever. They attended the reading and expounding of the Word of God throughout the feast. Their diligence made them discover certain hidden facts therein. Those who diligently search the Scripture will find those things written there which they have either forgotten or not duly considered. Spare hours cannot be better spent than in studying the Scriptures. Today, the neglected festival is the reading, studying and meditating on the Word of God. Find time to always meditate on the Scripture and live your life according to the truths you discover. This should be a daily affair for every Christian. Prayer Point: Tear the heavens and pour down your blessings at the BSF and Youth’s National Conferences this year Oh Lord! RBT Passage: Psalm 1-7; Rom. 2
