Sunday Gospel Summarized (SGS) September 14, 2014 The cross was previously a symbol of shame and death meant purely for criminals or the enemies of the Roman Empire. But now, it is a symbol of two things: hope and love. Hope - the cross shows that there is never a problem so insurmountable. Mountainous as some situations may be, they can be overcome. It is a constant reminder that God is with us through all adversities. He is there when everything seems bleak. We just have to remember to call on Him. Love - the cross is the embodiment of Christs endless love. No matter how bad we mess up in life, or how deep we are in the mire; regardless of how grave the sins of our pasts and presents are or were, as long as we turn our backs from sin and return to Him, His love dissipates all transgressions. Compassion, mercy, and forgiveness await. Let us all reflect on Gods word for today. May it bless us in ways that would glorify Him. God bless us all. -Stormsilencer
