Sunday MIDI question (no computer; just analog MIDI): What is the MIDI IN used for on a controller with no synth function... just controller/buttons/keys/knobs, no sounds? I have a device that has MIDI IN and OUT and the OUT works great as a controller running to a tone generator, but the data wont transmit through the IN from another device (thats what THRU is for). So again, what is the MIDI IN used for on a device that has no internal sounds or patches? Also, any experience with MIDI merger boxes? Any latency?
