Sunday Morning MESS Report...... Well, looks like things are gearing up for the construction project on University Drive. Concrete culverts abound! All sizes......from ginormous to normal.....guess the big gully by the city hall parking lot will take the ginormous ones, cause thats a BIGGGGGG gully!! Gerturde and Gerald G. Hogg will have to make sure they stay at the other end of the street while this is in progress. Had the parking lot to myself today, except for the LuluBelles delivery van. And was in a good walking mood. I hoofed it for 2.5 miles today, as hard as I could go. Wonderful walk. On the way back, met some fellow walkers. Got to get by City Hall for one of those forms to fill out about Carroll County Walkers.....not sure whats involved, but might as well find out. Doc and Mrs. Doc were running circles around me his morning....literally! When I parked, they ran by one way.....while I walked, they ran by another way....and then again, heading toward the Bethel Football Field, I met them again.....heading back toward town. Phew......no wonder they are so slim and trim and Im so hunky chunky!! Lookin great, guys!! Went all the way to the sawmill this morning on University Drive. Havent been that way in a while......that corn on Holland Farms must be 10 feet tall in spots. I dont believe Ive EVER seen corn so tall and healthy. Shouldnt be hurting on the corn production this year. Now, Ive seen some bean fields that could use a little help..... Started off my walk with nary a buzzard to be seen.....ing back to the car, there were two gathered at the water tower. They had seen me hustling, no doubt, and were waiting to see if I might hit the ground! So I guess today was a Two-Buzzard Walk, Mj Shubert. Buzzards are gruesome looking creatures, but there has been a road-kill Armadillo on the bridges by my house, and I have watched them literally clean it up in 3 days time. Even the shell is gone, but I dont think they had anything to do with that. There is nothing left now but the skin and the tail. Ive wondered what happened to the shell. Maybe a biker came through and needed a helmet? Not many sightings on the main drag like there is on the little streets of town. A few Sonic bags and Micky Ds fry boxes strewed around, but not much else. I like the fact that I know exactly how far Ive walked by the sidewalk markers, but I can do that with my fitbit....so.....not sure if Ill go that route many times. I like to see kitty cats and squirrels and birdies. Not many of those critters out around that end of University Drive. A few deer every now and then, but only in the earlier spring when the corn doesnt dwarf them. Well, would you look at that? The nice, clean bench on the shelter by the sidewalk going through Bethel U campus that was absent of bird poop yesterday is once again covered by ugly white poop stripes! And it seems like they must sit on the bench with their tail end over the seat......so they can hit their target, I guess. Maybe we need to put spikes on tops of all those benches! Time to get busy.....have a Safe Sunday.....over and out.
