Sunday, October 12th It has almost been four months since Brits accident. These months have been the most difficult, heart-breaking and frustrating time of our lives ... but also the most encouraging and spirit-filled period for our family. We are so blessed that Brit continues to make spectacular progress each day! Last week, Brit began to eat on his own again ... stood up by himself for the first time ... started school and was able to read flash cards on his own and match the appropriate answers with 100% accuracy ... and began to flash his big, beautiful, sweet smile for us again! God continues to bless Brittan and our family beyond measure! There is a song called What Faith Can Do that was shared with us by one of our sweet nurses - Dawn - that has resonated with us during this challenge. It is a beautiful song by Kutless. The entire song is spot on, but for us the following lyrics are so powerful ... Ive seen dreams that move the mountains Hope that doesnt ever end Even when the sky is falling Ive seen miracles just happen Silent prayers get answered Broken hearts become brand new Thats what faith can do It doesnt matter what youve heard Impossible is not a word Its just a reason For someone not to try .... Life is so much more Than what your eyes are seeing You will find your way If you keep believing Our faith, hope, and assurance in God has and will continue to be our anchor in this passing storm. We know God will heal Brittan and thank Him, in advance, for that healing. Please continue to pray for complete healing for Brittan. Each and every specific prayer request we have asked for has been answered!! Thank you so much for your continued prayers! This week we ask that you pray for Brit to begin to talk to us. He has been communicating with us in a limited fashion via an iPad or by nodding his head. We ask that you specifically pray for Brit to be able to speak to us this week. His therapists believe he is on the verge of speaking ... they (and we) can see in his eyes that he is trying to communicate with us. My heart aches to hear his voice again! I know it will be soon ... Time marches on, and so do all the happenings of the normal teenage life ... Homecoming is just around the corner for Waxahachie! As many of you know, it has become tradition to ask your date to homecoming in the most witty and unique way possible. Last year, Brit hatched the perfect plan to ask Megan to homecoming. So - as you can imagine - this year the pressure was on for us to come up with something special for Megan. I was worried about how to go about this in our current situation ... Well, Brits sweet Megan beat us to the punch this year and asked Brit to homecoming first!I told her that I had been concerned about how to make it special for her this year - her response ... she wanted to make is special for Brit this year!! (see the attached picture) Our sweet Megan is truly one of a kind! Thank you for being truly remarkable!! Here is to a another great week of progress for Brit!
