Sunday October 5, 2014 we left Jupiter, Florida around 9:30 - TopicsExpress

Sunday October 5, 2014 we left Jupiter, Florida around 9:30 thinking it would only take us about 5-6 hours to travel 50 miles. Yea right! The ICW is very congested during the weekends….maybe it’s like that all the time. Anyway, we had to go through 8 or 10 bridges that needed to be opened in order to pass through. We can go under approximately 18’, but we like to see at least 20’ on the depth ruler on the bridges. It all depends on whether it is high or low tide when we pass through. Part of the trip was a bit frustrating, as there were so many boats and jet skis heading in all directions that had no consideration for anyone. There were probably 10 or so boats, big and small, and jet skis pretty close together, and one boat maybe 42 feet long decided to pass everyone in a narrow area and the water was already kind of rough. So, when he passed with his enormous wake, our boat was rocking as if we were in open water with a big tide. The couch and ottoman moved about a foot or so, and my big vase that I love so much fell over and broke. I’m surprised that none of the 4 TV’s we have on board did not even move! I should have known better to put something like that on a boat. Lesson learned! Along the way we saw a lot of amazing things. One area of the ICW was packed with boats of all sizes….there were hundreds of boats relaxing, partying and enjoying the beautiful day! Exactly what we plan on doing when we get to the Bahamas I will post a few pictures of some of the things we saw as we were on the go! Yesterday we had called and made reservations at the Marina for tonight for a couple days so we could have our water maker installed. Well we called several times to let them know our ETA and we got no answer, and we also radioed on channel 16, but still nothing. So, we ended up anchoring right out sided the marina. That’s fine with me….I love to anchor! I really do prefer it. Monday October 6, 2014 we woke up and relaxed for a while before we called the Marina to find out what slip we were in. When we were ready to move over to the slip, the port side engine would not start. David noticed the battery was not charged. So, we had the battery jump started and moved over in our slip. I washed most of the boat down to get all the salt water/filthy water off. The boat gets very dirty quickly from the river water. We also had the air conditioning unit checked…come to find out the guy in Titusville installed the wrong voltage pump. David contacted him and he was very nice about it, and said he would make it right with us. Thank god, because it was about a $500 part! We rented a car for the next few days, because the grocery stores are too far to bike. So we also decided to drive 30 min or so to pick up my mom and her friend Linda in Miami tomorrow night. We went shopping for a few groceries and then out to eat at Bubba Gumps (we were engaged at Bubba Gumps in Cancun ).
