Sunday School or not? There is a trend in the church world today that is really bothering me. Many folks believe that there is no more need for Sunday School. They will come to the worship service but Sunday School is unimportant to them. My friend, let me share a word of wisdom with you. Sunday School is where we get our foundation and structure from the study of the word of God. From the very beginning of the word God instructed the fathers to teach their children the law. Listen to what it says in Deuteronomy 6:6-9. 6 And these words which I command the this day, shall be in thine heart : 7 And thou shalt TEACH them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. What a charge! God wanted his people to constantly know exactly what his word said. His word was their guide to a glorious relationship with him. Throughout scripture , God instructed the prophets to make teachers for the people. Teach the word! Living according to the word of God means living in his blessing and favor. David said in PS. 119:11. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Many people are struggling today with sin because they dont know what the word teaches about how to fight the good fight of faith, how to stand, or how to trust God. My friend, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.Rom 10:17. We must be taught what the word says about who we are in Christ, about the deliverance that we have through Him, and even who our Lord Jesus really is and what He has done for us. We must get it in our heart! We are losing a whole generation of young people because they have just been taken to church and not taught in Sunday School about God. They see no need for him. Parents you are guilty and will stand before God for that. Proverbs 22:6. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Are you training them to not attend Sunday School because you are a lazy Christian? Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge : because thou base rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee...... Be careful of being blinded by the foolish assumption of not needing Sunday School. Dig deep and build your foundation on the solid rock. The preached word is an absolute must but if that is all you are getting you may be building on sinking sand and wont be able to stand the storm. If there was no need for Sunday School as some preachers and members believe, then please explain this to me: 1Cor. 12:28. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly TEACHERS --- Please church, lets wake up and return unto the Lord and the ways of God again. And if you are a preacher or pastor who dont see the necessity of Sunday School, shame on you for keeping the whole truth from your flock! !! Read the word for yourself and see what it says about teaching. I sincerely believe God has put this in my spirit this day for you. God bless you is my prayer. To God be the glory
