Sunday evenings are mostly dull but not today. Lately there have been one too many Khalis markets but Haryali Farmers market at Lahore Grand have been the most impressive so far and has given the old Khalis a new brand name of Haryali. Given its May and the thought of being out in the hot weather is already dreadful but thanks for the indoor air conditioned hall, it made a true family evening out. Ok first, upon entrance you get hit by amazing smell of BBQ and grilled Burgers. The event was spectacular indoors with amazing vendors like Ganache cakes, Mad Chef, Organic honey, Ravi Organic Desi Chicken, Nebu herbal beauty products, and the list goes on and on. Being a foodie with a sweet tooth, I hit Ganaches heavenly 6 layer chocolate cake first and then to out doors for some real grub. Ok, Ive tasted lots of local burgers in Lahore and one addition to the list is Big Bites stuffed Swiss cheese burger. Im impressed with this non restaurant burger made by a young entrepreneur Sehar who I must say ought to have a burger joint for such thick juicy burger. By doing a bit fine tuning, this could be one of the best burgers in town. Keep up the good work Sehar. Next to the Big Bite, were none other than Coffee Planet, Bubba Chew, Haryalis Kitchen, Grilled Turkish food by Samia Javeds Istanbul and finally my favorite Haryalis fusion kitchen by Raza Abbas. Raza had really infused Desi cuisine with valaitee touch with menu like watermelon juice infused with lemonade, Alu andaa bhujia with Mushrooms, Cashew Nut & Raisen Chicken Biryani with mint and jalapeño raita, and then my favorite Shaami Aanda Burger infused with Shiitake mushrooms served with Mirchili strawberry chutney. Now Ive tasted lots of Shaami burgers but this surely takes the lead. Well done Raza. And finally, amazing live performance by Three Musketeers who pumped a new life to such events. Also glad to see that for the first time, they also introduced jumping castles for the kids which could bring lots of little customers in future. Again, well planned, well executed, and well selected venue. By far the best farmers market Ive attended in Lahore.
