Sunday morning - January 19, 2014 In Matthew chapter 6 Jesus gives us advice in different areas of our lives, one of which is the financial field. Everything we do should be a consequence of our experience with God. Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-22 All God has given you cannot be taken away. It cannot be stolen. Moths and vermin will not destroy it or thieves will not brea k in. Prosperity that comes from God is blessed. What is your priority in life? Is it money, work? Be careful! Thieves may take it away! However, what God has bestowed us cannot be touched, unless God allows it to be. The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:22-24 Jesus is talking about money and finances here. You may have money and still serve God. However, God does not give some people more because then they will change lords. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life m!ore than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life ? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you —you of little faith? Mateus 6:25-30 Jesus is showing us that we worry about these things and that is exactly what He wants us to avoid. Jesus takes care of all small details about our lives. God takes care of us. He feeds the birds. He clothes the grass. What about me? This is not optimism, it is a question of faith! So do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. Mateus 6:31-32 It is the pagans, those who do not trust God, the ones who are anxious about all those things! Our Father gives us all. I am not advocating laziness. I am saying that God takes care of us! He will bless us! Finally: But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34 Let us understand this scripture a little more. There are things that encourage our faith, but there are things we hear that demotivate us. Society has its own patterns and so does the institutional church. The church of Christ is different then the institutions. First, it never ends. Moreover, it does not protect sin, it covers the sinner. It loves the sinner, not sin. . A feast is made for laughter, wine makes life merry, and money is the answer for everything. Ecclesiastes 10:19 Is money the answer for everything? NO! God is! Money is something God gives us do that we have means to live better. Of course God wants to bless His children. He wants us to live well. There are people in misery in all senses because they are dominated by money and because they do not care about God. Jesus came to set the captives free. That is why I have to believe that God wants to solve my financial problems. God wishes to open the floodgates of heaven upon us. God desires to pour out great blessings upon us. He has created heavens and earth for us and wants us to enjoy it. Why does God wants us to be prosperous? To give us a better life. To bless His kingdom and to enable to build it. I believe that the prayer of faith can solve any situation! There is no merit here! He blesses us through faith! I believe the power of prayer! And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. James 5:15 Ten men were healed. One came back to thank Jesus. This one was truly set free. Obedience brings blessings to our lives. It is not just knowing what the Word of God says, it is believing it. Trust the Word of God in all times of your life. Activate it! Believe His Word is unchangeable. His principles are eternal because God ?Himself is unchangeable. Two things: FAITH and OBEDIENCE. Through faith we please God and we are obedient when we trust Him. The third thing is: WORK! God wants us to be prosperous. So: . Have faith . Be obedient . Work To be continued
