Sunday morning coming down. Got back that hour we lost to DST last spring and Jack Frost took full advantage of the extra time to cover the world outside. Not just a frost but a freeze. My brave petunias have met their end. The blooming season is over. Icy frost coats every leaf, every blade of grass to turn the fields a glistening white in the early morning sunlight. Oscar doesnt bother sniffing at the frozen ground but hurries through his walk. Two birds call back and forth, perhaps complaining to each other about the cold. The cardinals and chickadees have discovered the newly filled bird feeder but theyll have to go elsewhere for a drink since the birdbath is iced over. A cow down by the pond is reaching up into the trees to hunt for a bite of leaves that might not be iced. And yet, ice and all, its a beautiful morning even if we are having to admit winter is on the way. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday.
