Sunday morning on October 5th in Baylor Hospital of Garland and just before Lexie’s pain medicine kicks in she turns to me and asks, “Why is God doing this to me?” How can I answer the question and should I? My mind is filled with words to say...but my heart wants to speak of something else entirely: her ability to express this thought clearly and with true emotion and spiritual force. I want to say, Praise God for the reports that you do not have the autoimmune disease that would have required dialysis. Thank God that the Garland policewoman got through your confident outer shell and persuaded you to follow through and even allow Tracey to drive you to the hospital. I could say thank God for Nurse Sandy who thought of ways to allay your anxiety. The kidney biopsy was done in the room instead of having to move you down a long hallway and into a strange room. On the first attempt you fought to get off the bed. Using Sandy’s suggestion, however, you were “knocked out” because you did not fight the anesthesia. I could say we should be thanking God for friends who arose at 6AM to pray or who fasted for you and us. Thank God for a praying church. Thank God for family that bound together in united prayer to the one true living God and Jesus Christ His Son. I thank God for Holy Spirit who has hovered in the room. The anesthesiologist, nurses and all on this floor heard me as the spirit sang through me. Why is God doing this to you? He’s not. Satan is the enemy of our souls and his job is to steal, kill and destroy. He goes about the earth as a roaring lion SEEKING whom he can destroy. It is up to us to SHUT every open door, break every chain, refuse every enticement by even people we love, hating even the aroma of sin. And having done all on our part…we can STAND in confidence that the same God who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us. He will quicken (allow and cause salvation to COME) our mortal bodies. This is a beautiful wake up call to my daughter and through her, my entire family and all who are reading this. I want my daughter to live and more than just live, I pray that she fulfills every purpose God has ordained for her in the WAY He communicates that purpose to her. No wavering, no compromises with the enemy to accomplish goals in her own strength and her own ingenuity... No decisions to foster unrighteous affiliations. Nothing hidden. Nothing broken. No anxiety. Just God’s woman, standing in the anointing of the Holy Ghost and if required, standing alone (but not alone). Take aways so far…. 1. Take care of your physical, emotional and SPIRITUAL selves. 2. If you are not married, take care that you have someone who knows important computer passwords, personal contacts, etc. 3. Take care of important issues like a medical power of attorney, etc. 4. Do all you can to communicate your respect and love for the key and important people in your life. Have true, intimate personal relationships. Intimacy is NOT physical, but is a closeness demonstrated by lower walls and NO unnecessary hidden secrets. 5. Have an intimate knowledge of God that includes a deep well of scriptures that fill up those places that the enemy tries to invade with fear, anxiety, hurt, confusion, disunity 6. Get rid of any accumulation of offenses which can rob you of the beauty of THIS day. If you are suddenly affected by serious illness, you will not be able to reclaim what you ALLOWED to be lost. 7. God is a loving, forgiving Father. As a tithing, Holy Ghost filled tiger Mom….I trust Him. I love, adore and trust Him …..Walking through what was the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for God is with me. He prepareth a meal…and I dine with Him and sit patiently and peacefully at His feet as Angels do battle on behalf of my daughter and family. No weapon formed against us will prosper and every tongue that rises up…..He will condemn. THIS is her heritage ...all of our heritage....because our righteousness is of Him.
