Sunday night pastor Jonathan Downs- take off the limits The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 NKJV) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV) We serve an unlimited God. We can say this, but we often still feel limited. We often accept limits without a fight. You can say: I know God has a plan for me, he is a healer, he is a deliverer, he is a forgiver, he can do great things. But then we say... But not for me. The devil tries to put limits on our life to stop us becoming what God wants you to be. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV) There is a battle going on for your soul. We are in a spiritual battle. You know what I mean when you hear the word of God and then all of a sudden thoughts come into your mind. Thoughts saying you cant do it, thoughts distracting you. The devil wants to stop you becoming what God wants you to be. You can limit God by: 1-Negative talk. -low self esteem, when you feel like you are nothing. Nothing in our hands, is the exact opposite to nothing in Gods hands What is nothing? Nothing is useless. Nothing is helpless. Nothing is hopeless. This is the human idea of nothing. But God doesnt see nothing like we do. Its the exact opposite. Because nothing in Gods hands is the raw material for everything. In the beginning God stood on nothing, spoke to nothing and from nothing- created everything. God can make something out of nothing. If you think you are nothing you are In the right place for a miracle in your life. If you feel empty and helpless you are exactly what God needs to perform a miracle! Its time to see things the way God sees them. The closer we are to nothing, the closer you are to be being used by God. Quit negative talk. They limited God when they said Yes, they spoke against God: They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness? (Psalms 78:19 NKJV) Instead of saying Can God? Say GOD CAN Never speak words to let the enemy know hes winning! The devil cant read your mind. So when you say it, he figures out what he is doing is working and will keep going! 2- silencing your praise. God inhabits the praises of his people. When Paul and Silas were put in prison, they didnt complain. Instead-- they started praying and praising God. When you face a challenge this week, just start praying and praising. Praise breaks the grip of the enemy! There was an earthquake near the prison and the doors came flying open. Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.(Psalms 145:2-4 NKJV) Keep praising him through the drought. Even when you are spiritually low. And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no rain. (Zechariah 14:17 NKJV) If Paul and Silas decided to be sad whilst they were in prison, they could have been angry with God for allowing them to be in there, hating the people that captured them. But if they decided to sit and be sad, they would have rotted In prison. But they decided to praise. There is something special that happens when praise comes out of adversity. Adversity ADDS A VERSE to your life song. When you experience God answer your prayers or bring you though a situation. Healing, deliverance, salvation, loss, 3- dont be limited by liars The DEVIL is a LIAR The devil will try and limit you by his lies. God has a much bigger plan for you than what the devil is telling you you can and cant do. The devil tries to limit us by the past. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, (Philippians 3:13 NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV) You are a new creature. You dont have to be held back by your past. Dont be held like a slave to your past. Take the limits off. Stop being negative.
