Sunday packing day for the HEPP (Haiti Emergency Preparedness - TopicsExpress

Sunday packing day for the HEPP (Haiti Emergency Preparedness Project) Team which departs on Friday night for Merger, Haiti. Merger is east of Port au Prince, and home to 15,000 people. During a Healing the Children visit last June, the Merger community members expressed an acute desire to learn emergency response skills to be prepared for the next disaster. The HEPP project is a partnership of Healing the Children, Rotary, Emergency Management, Green Cross, and FHED (Foundation for Healing and Educational Development in Haiti). The CERT (Certified Emergency Response Trainer) team will train 50 teens to be CERT and then they will work with community members to identify emergency response stations in their community and develop plans to help each other in times of disaster. This project has received financials support form Rotary District 5050; Rotary Clubs of Everett, Everett Port-Gardner, and S. Everett Mukilteo, Green Cross, Everett Emergency Management, and fundraisers. We will also be scouting for potential future Healing the Children family medical team sites in partnership with FHED.
