Sundays forecast - Unrelenting Atlantic. Its been another wild day across the Western Isles. Wintry showers and thunderstorms all mixed in. Tonight there is more showers pushing across the Western Isles. With more wintry precipitation and risk of thunderstorms. There was some cloud to ground lightning strikes on Saturday but most where cloud to cloud. Overnight Saturday into Sunday and we will see more rain push across the Western Isles. Again it will be heavy and intense at times and for some places it will be wintry in nature. But for most its expected to start turning to rain. There is still a lot of snow and slush on the ground and this is causing some tricky driving conditions.We will see some clearer spells and there is a risk of some frost and ice on top of the already wet road. Winds of around 30 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph. Winds are forecast to ease down a first thing tomorrow morning. Some rain is likely and could still be wintry at times. But will see some drier spells mainly across the Northern Half of the Western Isles but the cloud is forecast to dominate. The heavy rain will push back across the Western Isles as the morning goes on. We will see an increase in the Temperatures during the morning after a bitterly cold Saturday. There is a risk of thunderstorms once again tomorrow. 20 to 30 mph for the first part of the morning. Increasing as the morning goes on to around 30 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph. The afternoon and evening tomorrow are forecast to be wet. More heavy rain is forecast to spread across the Western Isles. There will be some breaks in the rain for a little lighter rain but the cloud is forecast to dominate. Slight risk of thunderstorms once again. Winds will be strong once more around 30 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph and at times reaching 70 mph. Overnight Saturday into Sunday winds will be from a Westerly and North Westerly direction. Winds will be from a Westerly and South Westerly direction. Tempretures will range from 0C to 10C but will feel colder in the wind chill.
