Sunderland city centre. I really feel for those people, some of which are good friends of mine who choose to invest their hard earned time and money in businesss based there. The local authority are nothing short of inept. Their inability to govern is polarised by failure after failure. We have watched in despair as our city which we were once proud of has become a victim of a cancerous degeneration over the past 20 years at the very least. Cancer needs to be treated. The city centre is nothing more than a living, breathing and unfortunately pro creating episode of Shameless! The so called cafe society looks like Paris after a nuclear fall out. A napalm attack would merely scratch the surface! Keep the mutants and the tables and chairs inside the pubs. We continue to re elect the same failing representatives. Many people vote in the same manner as their parents and grandparents did before them. The my Dad voted Labour / Conservative and so shall I mentality is rife in this country. Im not saying these people arent entitled to do that. But at least be aware of some of the key points of the manifesto of whoever you choose to vote for. Our political representatives will never be fully aware or appreciative of the publics despair and concerns if we continually re elect them. Less regard will be given to views and opinions if the current debacle is constantly repeated. I know the North East has a tourist board. Taking that into account would a form of private leisure industry committee representing Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham not be worth considering? Sunderland could quite easily replicate the blue print followed by our neighbours. We have the populace, the available land and a ready made work force. I feel the sands of time are slowly running out for our city. Furthermore I shall no longer be reading the Echo or The Sunderland Rant Fuel as it shall be known from now on.
