Sunny in Big Peach Country…Yesterday I was reminded of the old proverb A fool and his money are soon parted. I was in the checkout line Bi-Lo and an older gentleman (I have to use that term carefully now that I are one) was in line paying for a bag of dog food…He pulled out his wallet and only had ten dollar bill. He told the cashier not to worry and he reached in his other pocket and pulled out a much larger wallet. He opened that one and proceeded to pull out a wad of $100 bills that would choke an elephant. The girl asked him why he carried so much money on his person. His reply was, “I might want to stop on the way home and buy a new truck.” There were several people that witnessed this. After he left a lady in line said she knew him his whole life and he was a cheap loud mouthed braggart that lived in an old mill house…I, myself seldom carry enough cash to change twenty dollar bill. It would scare me to death to carry around as much as that man had on his person…I’ve read too many stories of someone robbed and killed with a line in the story that read, “The victim was widely known to carry large mounts of cash”. Not this old boy!
