Sunrise on radar In the left image, this mornings sunrise is captured on our SuperDoppler HD3: The long green spike just north of Brownwood is the energy from the Sun overpowering the radar located near Midland, as the radar pointed due east and the sun was just above the eastern horizon. The right image is the same phenomena, occurring at the same time across the Central Plains, on multiple radars. There is a spike radiating from the Houston radar pointing to the northwest - not sure what the radar was reflecting, but thats the wrong direction for sunrise.
