Peter & Paul (see spiritual heroes) We are all one “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3.28 The societal distinctions listed in Galatians did not cease to exist in the world. The point that was being made was that these differences do not matter in the Divine scheme of things. If the letter to the Galatians was being written today, the writer might have added, “there is no longer straight or gay” to the list. This is not to minimize the pride we celebrate this month being LGBT individuals, but rather to emphasize that God sees us as being all the same. As we strive for equality, let us realize that the basis for demanding the rights of each individual is that we are all the children of God.
