Super Staffies are so Love-a-Bull! Like most any rescue centre across the country, a high proportion of our residents are Staffies and associated crossbreeds and it is nothing short of heartbreaking to see such a wonderful and disastrously misunderstood breed suffer the ignominy of kennel life. As a result of a sensationalised media hate-campaign, the Staffy has gained a ferocious reputation and so have found themselves being picked up by owners who are entirely ill-suited to pet ownership - often then ending up at local animal shelters. Where, again, due to their utterly undeserved reputation, people are more reluctant to choose them. So I plead with you to give these little darlings a chance, don’t listen to what the papers tell you, don’t go for those daft designer dog breeds, once you choose a Staff you’ll wonder how you ever did without one! Contrary to the media-driven narrative, Staffordshire Bull Terriers are immensely loving, sociable, cuddly, personable, and heart-meltingly adorable - the breadth of their massive, cheery grin is truly unique amongst dog breeds! Whether its their characteristic waddle when they walk or the way in which they bounce and play with such unwavering enthusiasm, every single thing a Staffy does will bring a smile to your face and a spring to your step. As far as I’m concerned, you can keep the works of Shakespeare, of Wordsworth, and of Dickens. I care little for Newton’s apple, Henry’s wives, or Raleigh’s silly adventures. No, for me, none of these come close to England’s greatest contribution to the world - the creation of the humble Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
