Supernatural Chat: Season 10 Speculations and Spoilers Hey there Supernatural fans! Well, how about that Season 9 finale, huh? Have y’all recovered from seeing Dean open his demon eyes, sufficiently enough to start looking ahead to Season 10? That’s a stupid question, considering that probably the only thing fans wanted to do after the end of the finale was look ahead to Season 10 10 Speculations and Spoilers:::: Though it hasn’t even been two weeks since “Do You Believe in Miracles” aired, some spoilers are already floating around about Season 10. Most of the spoilers have come thanks to many of the cast revealing a few hints at the recent Jus In Bello convention (aka JIBCon) in Rome, plus some very important casting news. The King of Hell Will Be Back… as a Series Regular Just days after the Season 9 finale, the news broke that Mark Sheppard was being added to the cast as a series regular for Season 10. Supernatural doesn’t hand out series regular spots very often so it’s likely that Crowley will play a big part in Dean’s story next year. In my review of the finale, I theorized that Dean and Crowley may become BFFs and Sheppard become a regular could support that. The Winchester War is Over… or is it? The fandom breathed a collective sigh of relief when Sam and Dean dropped the hatchet after what seemed like forever. It was just too bad that the resolution to the most recent Winchester War didn’t come until right before Dean died. Jared Padalecki spoke to Zap2It about how much he enjoyed those moments. “It’s nice. Being a father of boys and being a brother myself, I, Jared, don’t love it when the brothers fight and when they’re not on the same page,” Padalecki said. “Sam sees Dean in this situation that Sam was in Season 4, so he’s saying to his brother, ‘Buddy, you had to help me off the edge five years ago and now you’re doing the same thing. Open your eyes!’ But that’s something I understand. I know what it feels like to love somebody, a family member, and go, ‘Listen, man, push through.’ I’ve been there. I get it. It’s kind of like what Dean said to Sam at the end of last season. ‘Listen, there are other ways to do this, get off the ledge.’ It’s nice to play that.” But now that Dean has become a demon, does that mean we’re about to see a whole new version of the Winchester war? Or will Sam decide he needs to support his brother no matter what after all they’ve been through this past season? My guess is it will all come down to Demon Dean and his behavior towards Sam. Castiel’s Broken Heart and Waning Grace At the end of the finale, Castiel was in a rough spot. Not only was his borrowed grace still running out, but he’d just found out his best friend/adopted brother was dead. Sure, we all know that Dean came back to life, but Cas didn’t. At JIBCon 2014, Mish Collins spoke about what he felt Cas was thinking in the final moments of the episode. “I think that he really thought that he was dead. I think that Cas will react when he sees Dean. [Hell be] happy that Dean’s alive and then he’ll be sad that Dean’s a demon.” It’s not hard to imagine that that would be exactly how the formerly fallen angel would react to finding out what happened to his best bud. As with Sam, the question then becomes: What will Castiel do? Will Castiel be able to help Dean? Will Team Free Will band together to not only help Dean but get Castiel back his grace? As for the team dynamic, Collins wasn’t overly hopeful everything would be hunky-dory in Season 10. “As always in our show, that’s a tenuous dynamic that probably will rapidly dissolve,” Collins told Zap2It. “We have issues still, I’m sorry to say.” Team Free Will, Plus Crowley, in Season 10 So where does that leave everyone as we head into Supernatural Season 10? Dean is a demon and Crowley is going to be around a lot more. That suggests that Dean and Crowley could end up working together. Will Crowley talk Dean into being his new minion? Or will Dean be so powerful (thanks to the Mark of Cain) that he will run the show and Crowley will be his minion? Sam and Dean just resolved their brotherly issues, but then Sam’s brother become a demon and that’s sure to throw them into another conflict. Will Dean still retain his same personality and work together with Sam to find a resolution to his new problem? Or will he be a monster that Sam will have to decide must be destroyed? Castiel is in heaven and though he defeated Metatron, he’s running on borrowed time and thinks Dean is dead. Will he be too depressed about everything to even try and fix anything in heaven? How soon until he finds out that Dean is alive, but a demon? Will Castiel find a way to once again sacrifice himself in some way to save Dean? Or will Sam and Dean somehow find a way to help Cas and perhaps even get his grace back? So many questions before Season 10 and way too many months until we’ll find out the answers.
