Supplement Education Week Day #7: TIP for calling your local veterinary facility or Pet Poison Helpline when your pet has ingested a supplement. In order to evaluate a pet ingestion of a supplement or multi-vitamin it is important that we have the following information: 1. Brand Name 2. Full product name (exactly how it is listed on the label) 3. Number of tablets/capsules/ounces there were in the original container (examples: 90 tablets, 120 capsules, 4.56 ounces). 4. How many you think were already taken before your pet got the container. 5. How many are left now (it is best to actually count the tablets/capsules that are left). 6. And if the product is a generic or store brand we may need to have someone read ingredient information off of their product label. If your pet has ingested a supplement or multi-vitamin, contact a local veterinary facility or Pet Poison Helpline to determine if veterinary care is necessary.
