Supplementing With Taurine! The taurine is an sulphur - TopicsExpress

Supplementing With Taurine! The taurine is an sulphur containing amino acid and is a component of bile, involved in maintaining calcium levels and helps cell membrane stabilisation. However, in the fitness industry is most well known for being present in energy drinks either with caffeine. Many of the stimulant drinks (e.g. Red Bull and Monster) contain taurine, but taurine is not an energy providing stimulant it’s self. It has been shown to be involved in reducing muscular fatigue (Warskulat et al 2004) and controlling out bodies temperature during physical activity. It has also shown to act as a cell volumiser, by drawing water into your muscle cells keeping them hydrated. Resulting in electrolyte concentrations being controlled, preventing cramping. It is suggested that you supplement with between 1-3g 30 minutes before hard exercise. References and Further Info: Warskulat U, et al. (2004) Taurine transporter knockout depletes muscle taurine levels and results in severe skeletal muscle impairment but leaves cardiac function uncompromised.
