Supportive Services Director-Resident Services (Venice, CA) Venice Community Housings mission is to preserve the economic, racial and social diversity of Venice and the surrounding area by maximizing affordable housing and economic development opportunities and providing needed social services to the areas low-income population. Resident Services provides resident meetings and socials, supportive services, educational workshops and training, case management, information and referrals for almost 500 VCHC residents, as well as after school programs service residents and community members. The Supportive Services Director is responsible for direct services to VCH Shelter Plus Care tenants and applicants, as well as overall management of Shelter Plus Care contracts, and is the primary contact with HACLA. Reports to Director of Programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Manage Shelter Plus Care contracts with HACLA, including placement of residents, tracking service match, and completion of all reporting requirements. • Provide and coordinate ongoing case management for all Shelter Plus Care residents, including developing and implementing individual service plans and maintaining case files. • Conduct home visits as needed for clients living throughout VCH properties. • Provide information and referral to available services and resources in the community. • Advocate for and assist residents to access eligible benefits and income. • Develop and coordinate regular activities for residents, including resident meetings, educational workshops and trainings, social events and field trips to promote community integration. • Ensure all services are documented and, when necessary, entered in the HMIS system. • Transport residents to appointments, services, community activities, and field trips. • Participate in collaborative case conferences and supervisory meetings with other resident services programs, and/or other VCHC staff, including property management. • Serve as preceptor for social work interns and supervise additional staff/volunteers/interns. • Represent VCH at community meetings. • Attend weekly meetings with Resident Services staff and additional trainings and conferences. • Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS • Masters in Social Work preferred. Bachelors degree must be supplemented by significant experience. • At LEAST three years of experience working with homeless individuals with substance abuse, mental health issues, and/or chronic health conditions. • Experience providing counseling and/or case management. • Effective communication with individuals in at-risk populations. • Experience managing homeless service programs/contracts, preferably with HACLA and LAHSA. • At least three years experience in providing social services with children and families. • Experience and knowledge of Westside community and social services a plus. • Reliable transportation, a valid California Driver License and proof of insurance is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Job frequently requires sitting for extended periods of time entering data into a computer and handling objects with hands. Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, driving, hearing, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically. SALARY $50,000-55,000/year, depending on education and experience. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, vacation and sick time, 12 holidays and 2 personal days.
