Supposedly, this is the first major failure for SpaceX. From what Ive heard, theyve been doing really well. This setback is unfortunate, but theyll sort it out soon enough. The explosion just doesnt look real; it looks like something out of a movie. With NASA pretty much toast (Russia being ticked off at the US, theyre not letting any NASA astronauts hitch a ride to the ISS), at this point its going to take a commercial space agency to get the US back into orbit without depending on another country to do it. Shutting down our (public) space programs development was one of the stupidest things the US government has done yet, in my opinion. Of course, the military has their own program thats decades ahead of NASA, but theyre not going to let what theyve got become public. Not for another twenty years, at least.
