Sure, youll find the occasional story about a person whose circumstances are the perfect storm to allow them to benefit from the ACA, but there were always going to be a few winners to go along with all the losers from this law; nobody denied that. My focus and interest, as someone with a degree in Economics with a specialization in macroeconomic theory, i.e., the effect on the country of policies and events, has been the bigger stuff: over 1000 waivers to big business and unions; employers cutting staff and hours to avoid the mandate; the White House unilateral decision that, though they lecture the GOP that its the law! theyre going to pick parts of it not to implement right away, like the employer mandate that requires them to cover all employees if they have over 50 (hence all the moves to avoid it); and, as predicted due to the one size fits all requirement of Obamacare, the exit from the market of insurance companies who offered cheap, bare bones plans to those who were either healthy and/or poor, and didnt want to pay for anything but catastrophic insurance. So its a loss of choice both from a plan perspective and now and insurance company perspective. And if you know nothing about economics, know this: Competition lowers prices, and things just got a whole lot less competitive. Up next: You may have insurance, but thats all Obamacare is: Insurance reform. Health care will actually be worse because of it, as doctors will soon do exactly what insurance companies are doing.
