Surgical Team Statement: Caner knows no boundaries. It can - TopicsExpress

Surgical Team Statement: Caner knows no boundaries. It can affect anyone, at any age, at any time. A surgeons, we have seen and continue to see first-hand, the damage cancer does to the human body. But it damages more than just the body; it can affect the mind by causing depression, affects families who are the support base for the patient, and affect finances and resources. But as the saying goes, cancer does not have to be a death sentence. It is, like any other illness, preventable and in many cases, treatable. Early detection is key. It is for these reasons, and many more that we need to show support as well as become more pro-active about Cancer. As a team we were discussing some ideas about fundraising for Cancer Awareness even before we approaches Movember. One of our own colleagues is in in NZ for treatment, and we wanted to show some support somehow. So when we were invited to take part, we were more than happy to oblige. Plus who doesnt love a good excuse to grow a moustache? Mens health is important, but often, as men, taking care of ourseleves isnt easy when our jobs and families are our priorities. Movember has been a good approach to try and increase awareness about issues ike Prostate Cancer, Liver Cancer as well as show support for Cancer Survivor patients everywhere. We are glad to have been able to take part in Samoas first ever MOVEMBER. Hopefully it continues to grow and expand from here. Awareness really is very important and encourages early diagnosis and treatment. To all the Mo Bros everwhere - Malo lava. A small effort never goes unnoticed. And to all cancer survivors everywhere, these Mos are for you! Faafetai - Surgical Team, National Hospital, Samoa.
