Susan Kohner came from solid Hollywood stock. Her mother was Mexican actress Lupita Tovar,, who played Eva in the Spanish language version of Dracula in 1931..her father was Paul Kohner, the international liason for Universal Pictures. She was born Susanna Kohner, but shortened her name. She starred opposite Sal Mineo in The Gene Krupa Story, but is best known for her role as Sara Jane, the daughter of Annie Johnson, (played by Juanita Moore), who tried to pass for white in the 1959 version of Imitation of Life. She married designer John Weitz in 1964 and retired from the business. Her legacy does carry on today, with her sons Chris and Paul, successful producers and directors of the American Pie series, and About A Boy with Hugh Grant.
