Suspected Nyanya bomb blast mastermind, Ogwuche, extradited The co-mastermind of the April 14, Nyanya bus terminus bombing, Aminu Ogwuche, was yesterday, extradited from Sudan to Nigeria. The fugitive Boko Haram kingpin, was declared wanted by International Police, INTERPOL, following intelligence reports linking him and another fugitive, Abubakar Tsiga, to the deadly bomb blast which left no fewer than 100 persons dead. Ogwuche, who managed to beat security searchlight on him and fled to Sudan immediately after the incident, arrived the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 3p.m. on a chartered flight. On hand to receive him were the spokespersons of the police, ACP Frank Mba, Department of State Services (DSS), Marilyn Ogar, Defence, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade and coordinator, National Information Centre, NIC, Mike Omeri. Ogwuche was declared wanted by the Federal Government on May 15, shortly after the DSS paraded some suspects in connection with the incident and a N20m ransom placed on him. Shortly after Ogwuche was declared wanted, he was arrested by the INTERPOL in Sudan, where he fled to. According to the NIC coordinator, who briefed journalists on the delay in Ogwuches extradition, the delay was due to diplomatic processes. The extradition of the suspect to the country on Tuesday was kept as top secret by security operatives. It was learnt that they did not disclose it even to journalists for security reasons. Earlier yesterday, the police sent a text message inviting newsmen to cover the unveiling of a Special Counter- Terrorism Equipment at the airport. A few minutes after the journalists arrived at the airport, only photographers and television cameramen were invited to capture the special equipment. At about 3.20p.m, however, the spokeswoman of the DSS emerged from the arrival hall, smiling and announced Ogwuches arrival, saying, here is the special counter-terrorism equipment. Ogwuche was led by plain clothes security operatives into an 18-seater Toyota bus and whisked away. Omeri who addressed journalists, said that Ogwuche would be interrogated and prosecuted. We have just successfully been able to secure his extradition from Sudan and he is back to his home country to answer questions. Of course, the usual procedure will take place, he will be interrogated appropriately and charged to court when all the processes are concluded, he said.
