Suspension of internet and mobile services leave people fuming amid flood threats CNS: After internet gag in Kashmir Valley, thousands of people living in flood prone areas were left fuming after the authorities suspended mobile services in the wake of Aug 15 celebrations. People living in flood prone areas like Litapora, Sangam, Barsoo, Lasjan, Soitang Padshahi Bagh were all out from their houses on Thursday morning to monitor the level of rising waters in the river, streams and nallah’s. Visibly anxious people felt helpless when they find that authorities have even snapped the mobile service. People could not contact their relatives and the officials of Flood and Control Department to know the latest situation about the floods. “Internet services have already been suspended by the Coalition Government though the situation in Kashmir Valley is peaceful and today without any reason mobile services were snapped. We tried to contact our relatives to know about the latest position of floods but we could not,” one of the residents from Soitang Lasjan told CNS. Amid intermittent rains, people were seen in queue watching the flowing streams and nallah’s but were unable to pass on information or share anything with their near and dear one’s as Cellular Operators following the directions from the authorities had snapped the mobile services. Like past, the mobile service was restored only after mid-day, however, internet services remained suspended for the sixth consecutive day across the State. (CNS)
