Suver Farm on the National Road. Robert Suver purchased this farm containing 80-acres from Richard Goodall in 1972. The Ralph Johnson family has rented and lived at this farm for the prior 35 years. The barn contains large beams made of birch, which still contains some bark on them. They used to board horses in there. They once would grow pumpkins on about four acres on which you had about 3,000 pumpkins per acre. At one time they grew colonial popcorn and supplied Colonial Maize, which sold at fairs in seven states. He raised this popcorn for about eight years and supplied two tons of it every two weeks during the season. The Detrick Plat that was once part of this farm was laid out in the 1940’s but was never developed until 1974 when they built Eastwood Road. The newer brick homes behind the farm were built in 1990.
