The more modern name for the cookie is Chokladboll— literally “chocolate ball.” Eva Sidekrans was reported for a hate crime for using the older term. Zakaria Zouhir, head of the Afro-Swedish national association, said thename was racist and offensive. As well as being a member of Swedens Moderate Party, Sidekrans runs a business called Seama sell old-fashioned goods, including the negro balls, or negerbolar in Swedish. Sidekrans has subsequently issued an apology, according to The Local. If anybody feels offended by my pastry then I am sorry. It has never in the ten years that I have sold them had the purpose of upsetting anybody.
