Sweet map that shows racial demographic trends over the geography of 15 cities from 2000-2010. You can really get a visualization of how racially stratified most cities are. D.C. you can split almost clear down the middle. Baltimores white population dissects the city from the North between I-83 and York Rd., bottlenecks in Center City then disperses East towards Highlandtown, South towards FedHill/Locust Point, and West towards Pigtown. The black population is particularly concentrated in the West/Northwest and East/Northeast along the corridors of Reisterstown Rd/Liberty Heights and Harford Rd/Belair Rd, respectively. It is interesting to see a shift from predominantly westside to the Northeast corridor during the timeframe. What is super cool to check out is the Hispanic population in East Baltimore. Almost nonexistent in 2000, then explodes by 2010. This may not be news to Baltimore peeps, but its interesting either way.
