Swimmer of the week: Here is the terrific Tessa showing off her survival skills she learned during her group swim lessons at the downtown Y. Tessa went from a 3-piece float belt on her first day to swimming and treading in the deep water all with in two sessions of lessons right before her 4th birthday! Drowning is the leading cause of injury-related death among children between 1 and 4 years old. And it’s the third leading cause of death among children. Here at the Y, we make safety a top priority as part of our swimming programs.
