Swimming in the darkness, with the outline of the lake waning in departed dusk, a glow from the moon pushed its way through thick fog to create a liquid mercurial glow upon the waters surface as we glided through the still reflection. In moments of silence, the crickets and night birds echoed across the basin, interrupted only once by party people singing off in the distance. Occasionally a flashlight spotted the opposite shore, its users hidden in the shadows. The moon glow carried us across the entire lake. My first night swim. Perfect.
