#Switzerland 004 How about having a government, -Who is forced to do what the voters of the local communities decide? -Though there can be a majority in the nation’s parliament, but to change the laws the government need to go to people? -When 100000 people sign a proposal, it has to be introduced in the referendum to vote and subsequently has to be presented as Amendment to the constitution? -The voters in a small community decided that they want a high school in the area than more buildings and construction work, the government would have to comply? Swiss #directdemocracy for starters! Recently, a ticket checker in the train fined a politician for travelling on an invalid ticket. The ticket had expired just hours ago and this person forgot to buy another ticket as the journey took longer that he had planned for. It was a mistake, though unintentionally, and as per the law, he had to pay the fine. On Sunday, 22-September-2013, there is another referendum and question is whether to give voting rights to foreigners who have lived in Switzerland for a certain time. #cultureshock The heavens are created with Governance. God only helps! With just started to pick up #German, I hope to learn more about the local political system with time. This direct democratic system also explains, why knowledge of German language is mandatory in the long run, as, if you do not know the language, you can not understand the system, and hence can not contribute to the local community (vote) wisely.
