The adventure comes to an end…Today was our last day on the trail. We decided to get an early start so that we head home a little earlier in the day. At Sycamore Landing the trail was a real mess from the storm on Thursday. I was once again thankful we did not get on the trail that day. Someone could have been hurt if we had been on the trail - I thank God for his protection as we were on the trail. Today the wildlife we saw was very minimal, only a couple of squirrels and our friends the turtles. The trail was very busy today. The closer we got to DC the more crowded the trail got. We really had to be careful so as to not to be in any accidents. The end of the trail in DC gets a little complicated. I actually watched a video last night to see how to find the 0 marker for the trail. The video was a great help. The trail actually ends on the opposite bank of the canal across from the Watergate Hotel. The Watergate Hotel received it’s name due to the fact that this was the gateway that boats used to enter the canal. How history continues to carry through to our lives today. Well our journey has come to an end. We have sore behinds and are very tired, but we really enjoyed our adventure. See you on the trail (but not for a few days until I can recover).
