Sydney, Australia will host the VII International Congress of Tango Therapy Registration is now open. The registration form can be found at: congresotangoterapia In January 2015, from 19 to 23, the VII International Congress of Tango Therapy will be held in Sydney Australia. From Rosario, Argentina, the cradle and capital of Tango Therapy, the Association of Therapists Tango Argentina and the Institute of Tango Therapy - Australia are calling for the submission of research papers, workshops for rehabilitation or prevention, and /or life experiences that can be shared in order to show the goals achieved by means of the use of this alternative and complementary therapy. The event will take place in the Australian city of Sydney. Prominent health professionals will attend this event, as well as Tango professionals from Argentina and abroad. Video conferencing will be provided by health professionals from various universities. In addition, workshops taking place in many cities of the world will be shown through the same media. The overall objective is to promote and raise awareness of the therapeutic effects of tango in all its expressions, be it music, singing, poetry, and particularly dance, within a framework of national and international cooperation, with the objective of deepening our knowledge on the frequent practice of this therapy to improve quality of life. The main objectives will be to disseminate scientific research regarding the therapeutic action of the dance, song and poetry of tango, and to promote the exchange of experiences of groups or individuals who are performing tango activities as a therapeutic practice. There will be discussions on the implications of the techniques being used, from the biological, psychological and social perspectives. Moreover, a project for a formal tango therapy training course will be presented, aimed at training tango specialists so that they may carry out this activity in a professional and responsible manner. Within the framework of the activities of the Congress, several lectures, conferences, debates and presentations of life experiences will be provided, including more than 20 workshops, such as introductory tango, Zen applied to tango dance and meditation in movement, tango therapy in water, tango without stress, universal language of tango, sensory perception, tango therapy in rehabilitation centres, tango for children, etc. These will be conducted by tango professionals from Argentina and abroad, and will be aimed at the general public to introduce them to this therapy. Some of the social and leisure activities that participants and visitors to this Conference will enjoy include: visits to Australian milongas, city walks and visits to national parks, an Opening Gala Milonga and a Milonga Closing of the Congress, with shows by recognized worldwide dancers and singers from Rosario, and other tourist circuits. The event is expected to have more than 200 participants, Argentinean and foreign speakers, workshop leaders and assistants.
