Sydney Contemporary is Sydney’s new international art fair showcasing work by emerging and established artists from leading Australian and international galleries. 20-22 September 2013 Opening Thursday evening at 19 September. Ronald Manullang tends to work with realistic technique as his medium expression and involve oil or charcoal on canvas. He has a passion for politics, history and social criticism together with a popular portrait to convey the relation with the history and his imagination. The 16th Day: The Visitation drawn fiction and reality, captures moments of enchantment, which are associated with Indonesian first president Soekarno and his 5th wife, Naoko Nemoto. These paintings investigate the relationship between real person and factual occasion in fictional pose. The concept of this series is based on his beliefs in the intervention of the Supreme Being when an important leader is about making a historical decision. The purpose was to assemble the couple at the same intervening time and space on canvas and create his own fairy tale.
