Syrian Army forces are seizing control of Homs, the symbolic capital of the rebels when fighting began over three years ago. Anyone paying attention to developments on the ground would understand there is no realistic chance that the Syrian rebel groups are going to remove Assads government from power. One might assume that the U.S. would stop its funneling of arms and other vital materials to the fighters losing there, but such an assumption would be inaccurate. For you see, the U.S. doesnt care if the rebels take power or not. What the U.S. cares about in Syria is the same thing theyve always cared about in foreign countries they operate: Weakening obstacles to U.S. hegemony. Every Syrian death on the battlefield is unnecessary. The war is over, there is no reason left for Syrian opposition fighters to continue resisting, as their choice to do so only results in the continued suffering/death of civilians. If the U.S. Government legitimately cared for the Syrian people, they would stop exacerbating an already sore wound in Syria.
