#S’West PDP Nominates Oladipo To Replace Oyinlola As National Scribe# South West zone of the PDP at the weekend in Ibadan chose Adewale Oladipo as Acting National Secretary of the party to fill the position earlier occupied by former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who was sacked following a court order. At the extra-ordinary zonal congress of the party at La Chateau, Awolowo Avenue, Bodija, Ibadan, where the nomination of the Professor of Environment and Earth Sciences from Ile-Ife, Osun State, was unanimously affirmed, Zonal Caretaker Chairman, Ishola Filani, said the development was in obedience to the order of the court. The court which sacked Oyinlola as PDP National Secretary had among other things ruled that “an order is hereby granted directing the 3rd defendant (INEC) to rectify the records of the 2nd defendant (PDP) by deleting the name of the 1st defendant (Oyinlola) as the National Secretary of the 2nd defendant; “And replacing same in accordance with the provision of the constitution of the 1st defendant with candidate nominated at a valid congress of the South West zonal chapter of the 1st defendant to be held within 21 days of the order of the court.” The weekend congress which had in attendance party delegates from all the six states of the zone – Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti and Lagos – was also attended by state party chairmen from all the states except Lagos. It would be recalled that when some members of the PDP NWC were recently asked to resign in obedience to another court order following which Solomon Onwe, the person initially appointed in acting capacity for the position of National Secretary by the party’s National Chairman, Bamangar Tukur, left the seat, another person was appointed from Lagos State. Filani, however, described the appointment from Lagos State said to have been unilaterally made by former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the party and a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Bode George, as a wrong step, adding: “Bode George has been taking wrong steps.” “How he came about putting a Lagos man in the position belonging to Osun State in line with the court order was not known to us. We have no quarrel with Bode George, he is a member of the BoT, but he is not an officer of the party at the South West zone,” Filani said. The new Acting National Secretary in his acceptance speech commended President Jonathan for creating an enabling environment for internal democracy, which, he said, made his endorsement by the party members in the zone possible. He promised that he would make every son and daughter of Yoruba land proud in the way and manner he would conduct his affairs during his tenure.
