TAKE A MASTER CLASS with ALICE COOPERS GLEN SOBEL Thursday, August 7th @ Vics Drum Shop @ 6:30pm $50 for a 90 minute session Students of all skill levels are welcome! About Glen Sobel: Glen Sobel is one of those drummers who can cover any genre of music extremely well. Whether hes playing rock, prog, metal, rap, pop, jazz, fusion, funk, Latin, or R&B, Glen fits right in. A native of Los Angeles, Glen began playing drums at the age of 11. He studied drums throughout high school while playing in marching bands, jazz bands and other bands outside of school. At 19, Glen won a drum competition that soon led to his first pro gig playing for guitar virtuoso Tony MacAlpine. Glen then recorded one record with MacAlpine in 1993, called Madness, which featured jazz saxophone luminary Branford Marsalis. Glen has been the drummer for Alice Cooper since 2011. Hes also performed and recorded with a variety of artists that include Sixx: A.M., Vasco Rossi, Elliott Yamin of American Idol, SX-10, Beautiful Creatures, Impellitteri, Gary Hoey, Jennifer Batten, Paul Gilbert, Saga, Shark Island, Vivian Campbell, Uli Jon Roth, Jeff Scott Soto, Alcatrazz featuring Graham Bonnet, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Johnny Depp, Rob Halford, Weird Al Yankovic, Mike Myers, Pat Simmons, Michael McDonald, Robbie Krieger, Ke$ha, Arthur Brown and many others. When not on the road, Glen can be seen playing around Los Angeles with various artists, including Jeff Kollman, Adrian Galysh, and Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbells band, Sir Sodoff and the Trainwrecks. He is also a faculty member of Musicians Institute in Hollywood and a regular contributing writer for Drum! Magazine. In the 2013 Readers Poll for DRUM! Magazine, Glen placed first runner-up in both the Rising Star and Rock/Metal categories. Glen endorses Mapex Drums, Gibraltar Hardware, Sabian Cymbals, Evans Drumheads, Regal Tip Drumsticks, DW Pedals, Groove Juice, Kelly Shu Microphone Mounts, and Humes and Berg Cases.
