TAKING THE FIRST STEP The Delhi University got its pace back with the admission process coming to an end and the next beginning of the new session. The metros’ were seen jam packed with ‘fuchhas’ heading towards their college. With all the adrenaline rush and pangs of anxiety, the students attended their orientation, the place where they get the first glimpse of the college surroundings in which they would be surviving for the next three big years. While many freshers who couldn’t make it to north campus were seen roaming around in the streets of Kamla Nagar, yet, there were many others who very excitedly went to their college to start the first chapter of their new life. The response we got from the freshers was far more overwhelming, and the fact that they were able to grab a seat in the most sort after universities of India, added to the ecstasy. First day was basically marked with the teachers introducing themselves, briefing the students regarding their time table and other rules and regulations, etc. Shalini Bokaria from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College found her first day a little weird, but company of her school friend made her feel at ease. “Also, the seniors were cute, and since I am a volleyball player felt elated on seeing a volleyball court in the college campus.”The lectures didn’t take place in the first place, so that left the freshers with ample time to make friends and explore the college campus. Sneha from Daulat Ram College, pursuing eco (h), shared her experience of being in north campus. “The crowd here is mixed, like a lot of girls have come from different parts of India like Jaipur, Haryana, Bangalore, and so, she liked to interact with them, Sand talking about north campus, the feeling itself is awesome”Even the scorching heat in the city, did not let the spirit die or the excitement lessen in any way. Students were found roaming in some most favoured hangout places such as Satya-Niketan, Hauz Khas, Kamla Nagar etc. Those students who preferred staying in the college enjoyed the canteen and the infrastructure. Ananya Kaushik, a first year student of History (h) in DCAC, simply loved his college campus and the canteen. “Taking into consideration the size it may be a tad bit small but it is green and during my admission process I even heard a peacock. The canteen is amazing in terms of not just food but the fact that there is cool graffiti on its walls. The searing space is airy and large and if full there is space to sit outside as well under the shade of trees. The building structure is easy to know and even though it is fairly large, one cant get lost given its simple design “ All in all, we can say that the Delhi university which were in the paparazzi from quite some time is now being seen regaining its momentum while in the meantime all the DU’ites are ready to make yet another history. GOODLUCK FRESHERS!! MAKE THE BEST OUT OF IT!! Mansi Gupta 3rd Year, SGTB Khalsa
