TALK TO THEM ABOUT THE THINGS THEY TREASURE MOST Theodore Roosevelt astonished visitors with the range and diversity of his knowledge. Gamaliel Bradford wrote of him Whether it was a cowboy or a Rough Rider, a New York politician or a diplomat, Roosevelt knew what to say to him. With Teddys busy schedule, how was this done? Simple. With enough advanced warning of a visitors arrival, Roosevelt would sit up late into the night reading up on the subjects that he knew his visitor was interested in. As all leaders know, The royal road to a mans heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most. Ninety-five percent of any successful transaction is determined by the people involved genuinely liking enough of the other persons traits to listen to the other five percent of the facts presented. The 95% is easily obtained when you talk about the other persons interests, wants and needs. Talk about those things that stir his or her enthusiasm. Every time you view and experience the power of the colors: violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange or red, you remember the value of the talking about the other persons interests.
