#TAS #Floods #Corp Thu 15:23 EST INITIAL WARNING MINOR FLOOD WARNING FOR THE MEANDER RIVER BASIN Issued at 3:23 pm EST on Thursday 18 July 2013 by the Bureau of Meteorology, Hobart. Flood Warning Number: 1 Rain, locally heavy, is forecast for the north of the state this evening and into Friday. Rainfall totals of up to 100mm are possible in the 24hr to 10AM Friday. This rain will cause minor flooding in rivers and streams flowing off the Western Tiers. Above Deloraine Strong rises throughout the upper reaches, with the Minor flood level to be exceeded at Deloraine township by midday Friday. Deloraine to Strathbridge Minor flooding to extend into the middle reaches, with the Minor flood level to be exceeded about Strathbridge overnight Friday. Below Strathbridge Strong rises to the Minor flood level expected in the lower reaches by Saturday. Predicted River Heights/Flows: Based on forecast rainfall the following river heights are predicted: Meander River at Deloraine 2.2 to 2.5m (MINOR), midday, Friday 19/07/2013 Meander River at Strathbridge 5.0 to 5.5m (MINOR), overnight, Friday 19/07/2013 FloodSafe advice is available at ses.tas.gov.au.
