TAX AUDIT JOB OPPORTUNITY: The Tax Services Department handles income, franchise, payroll, sales/use, gross receipts, and other tax compliance for AHM and its subsidiaries and affiliates in the U.S. including systems tax data integrity, return preparation and filing, coordination of related tax audits or controversy and development of tax savings strategies and planning. Responsibilities: Act as the primary contact with IRS Exam Team, maintaining detailed, well-organized audit records. Co-develop the federal tax audit plan with the IRS; develop Honda audit strategy; analyze audit issues and proposed adjustments and calculating the impact for tax positions (tax, interest and penalties). Managing the IDR process, including preparing and coordinating Honda responses to the IRS and weekly IDR update meetings with the IRS and maintaining data between Honda and the IRS, and researching legal issues. Analyze information, identify and discuss potential issues with management and conducts research. Communicating and interfacing with all Honda associates and affiliates regarding federal income tax audits and the preparation of audit responses, and will assist the affiliates in meeting critical audit deadlines with well-considered and accurate audit responses. Coordinating special projects relating to audits and planning for future federal income tax minimization among Honda units and outside specialists, and the implementation / maintenance of document retention policies. Qualifications BA/BS degree in Accounting or similar. CPA license (or in final stages) JD, Masters in Taxation or LLM in Taxation is a plus. Must have 8 - 10 years experience in a CPA firm or mid to large multi-state corporation with progressive experience preparing/reviewing federal returns and significant experience with IRS coordination of taxpayer audits. Solid experience in coordination an IRS large/coordinated taxpayer audits over the complete lifecycle of a multi-year federal income tax audit (from pre-audit planning through final resolution in Appeals and otherwise beyond). Excellent accounting and tax technical skills and analytic ability. Proficient in all aspects of the tax audit process and be knowledgeable about IRS procedures. Must have solid skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and be able to use Access databases. Must be highly organized with excellent communication skills and able to plan and prioritize own work schedule.
