#TBT It is very hard to believe that 10 years have passed since my last day as Director at KSN-TV in Joplin. Penny Robinson Thompson, the Operations Manager hired me while I was still in college on 11/9/95. She hired me on as a Master Control operator. Within a few months, I was promoted to weekend newscast director. We had great fun on weekends. After a couple months, I was promoted once again to Nightside Director, to oversee the direction of the 6:00 and 10:00 news. I met so many friends for life there. I do miss it greatly. I still listen to the scanner for news and I do weather with Stormdar Weather on Facebook. But I miss the deadlines, the adrenaline, the Christmas Parties, the many reporters that came and left, the many producers that came and left. Directors that left before me, my crew, audio, CG, and camera operators. Most of them are my friends on Facebook. Some of the best times of my life were spent at KSN. The highs if having 2 children were experienced there, to the lows of 9/11. I miss the little things, the jokes, going to eat with everyone between newcasts, the time we broadcast the news from my house in Webb City for the annual KSN Barbeque. (Jeremiah Cook (my audio guy) may or may not have scars from that one. There were so many people like camera op Justin Haase who was just getting his start. And I had a fun sound girl named Amanda Emmett McKenzie. We used to tease each other about everything. We would drive each other crazy every night. But it was all for fun. Amanda ended up taking the director position when I left. She is still with the company today! And then there were the jokes of Jim Jackson. You never knew what he was going to say. And I spent many a late severe weather night with Gary Bandy in The StormCenter. Fun and exciting times. I learned so much from everyone during my time there.
