TDF Success Story: Another mortgage issue through our partners at Code of Support. We just paid $13,035 to bring this family up to date so they wont lose their home. While this is a big amount for one family - we felt this would allow them to look forward and focus on the future, safe in their home versus one eye looking over their shoulder at the past and the debt collectors. MSGT Scott M (Army and Army Reserve), is in the process of being medically retired. He has three deployments (Bosnia, and Iraqx2) and his injuries include lumbar/cervical damage (vehicle rollover), TBI/PTSD. Hes married and has three little boys (5, 4 and 8 months). Code of Support already connected Scott with several orgs/resources, including Christmas gifts for the kids, and an org the provides one on one assistance with the med-board process. Hes also working with a local AMVETS to increase his VA rating. Hes getting treatment and PTSD/TBI counseling through the VA. His wife is in a peer support organization for OEF/OIF families living with PTSD/TBI. The med-board is going to take a while, but Scott expects his VA rating will be increased to 100% within 60-90 days. This would be enough to keep them afloat until the medical retirement comes through. In the meantime, the family is 5 months behind on their mortgage - back payments total $13,035.
