TEAM CHARLIE UPDATE: I just got off of a conference call with Charlies Mommy and Charlies doctor. The hole in Charlies neck is growing because of the aggressive behavior of the bacteria he is fighting. It has become necessary to make an incision in the opposite side of his neck to allow drainage of the fluids used to flush his wound, because they are currently pooling under his healthy skin on the other side. This will inevitably create another sore in a matter of hours if an incision is not made for drainage now. This will require a local anesthetic and Charlie will remain in the hospital on IV antibiotics at least until his culture tests come back, and it can be determined exactly what bacteria is attacking his little body.
